The Disney+ TV series adaptation of Rick Riordan’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” novels has officially begun production with Riordan posting the first photo from the set on Instagram.
The live-action series tells the fantastical story of a twelve-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who’s just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
The cast includes Walker Sobell as Percy, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Virginia Kull as Sally Jackson, Glynn Turman as Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, Megan Mullally as Alecto, and Timm Sharp as Percy’s stepfather Gabe Ugliano.
The first season will take its inspiration from “The Lightning Thief” novel and will consist of eight episodes.
