Sean Penn and Matthew Fox have scored the lead roles in the six-part Australian satirical comedy series “C*A*U*G*H*T” for streaming service Stan.
The story follows four Australian soldiers sent on a secret mission to a war-torn country. Mistaken for Americans, they are captured by freedom fighters and produce a hostage video that goes viral.
When the soldiers reach celebrity status, they realize that being caught might just be the best thing that could’ve happened to them.
The project was created by actor Kick Gurry (“Edge of Tomorrow,” “Garage Days”), who produces, directs and co-stars. Brendan Donoghue, John Schwarz and Michael Schwarz also produce.
Bella Heathcote, Bryan Brown, Erik Thomson, Ben O’Toole, Lincoln Younes, Alexander England, Mel Jarnson, Fayssal Bazzi, Dorian Nkono and Rebecca Breeds co-star in the series, which is currently in production ahead of a planned launch in 2023 on the Stan service.
