The BBC and Netflix’s popular “Peaky Blinders” series, which premiered a decade ago, wrapped its six-season run in April last year.
The show starred Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, a charismatic and cunning crime boss in Birmingham during the aftermath of World War I.
The show’s creator Steven Knight revealed a while back that the series would be wrapped up with a feature-length film which is aiming to be out in cinemas sometime next year (though hasn’t begun production).
Now though, while accepting Best Drama at the TRIC Awards this week, Knight revealed to The Mirror that the film won’t be the end for the franchise as they are working on secret plans for the future:
“We could never have predicted how much this series about Birmingham Âgangsters in the 20s and 30s would resonate. Some things just seem to have momentum and luck, and they stick, and everyone working on them feels that. What is coming next? It’s to be announced. But it’s not the end.”
This would seem to confirm talk of potential spin-offs that would follow members of the Shelby family or other characters from the series, such as Tom Hardy’s Alfie. Hopefully more details will be available in the coming months.
