NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service is showing no signs of slowing down.
First up, they have given an eight-episode order to the young adult mystery drama “One of Us Is Lying” based on Karen M. McManus’ bestselling novel. The story will focus on five high schoolers who walk into detention, though only four make it out alive.
Marianly Tejada, Cooper van Grootel, Annalisa Cochrane, Chibuikem Uche, Barrett Carnahan, Jessica McLeod and Melissa Collazo star with “Elite” creator Dario Madrona serving as showrunner.
Next, they’ve begun development of “Jade City,” a series adaptation of Fonda Lee’s bestselling fantasy trilogy “The Green Bone Saga” with Dean Georgaris (“The Meg”), Breck Eisner (“The Crazies”) and Dave Kalstein (“Treadstone”) executive producing.
Set in an Asia-inspired fantasy metropolis reminiscent of 70s Hong Kong, the story is an epic saga of magic and martial arts where two rival clans will fight to the bitter end for love, honor and power.
Then there’s “Rutherford Falls,” the previously announced series has signed up its main cast with Jana Schmieding, Michael Greyeyes, Jesse Leigh and Dustin Milligan all joining Ed Helms in the Peacock series.
That show is set in a small town in upstate New York turned upside down when local legend and town namesake, Nathan Rutherford (Helms), fights the moving of a historical statue. Schmieding plays Nathan’s best friend, Greyeyes is a casino CEO, Leigh is Nathan’s non-binary teenage intern, and Milligan plays a podcaster doing a story on events.
Finally parent company NBC is developing the military drama “Generals Row” which hails from writer Jason Wilborn. Milo Ventimiglia and Russ Cundiff will executive produce.
The story evolves around a trailblazing female general who joins the military’s most exclusive club – the Joint Chiefs of Staff – and moves her family into a neighborhood rife with cutthroat politics and blind ambition.
