Peacock Orders Mackie Led Twisted Metal
Netflix

Peacock has ordered a comedic half-hour action-comedy series adaptation of the popular Playstation video game franchise “Twisted Metal”.

Marvel alum Anthony Mackie will star in and executive produce the project which will be penned and executive produced by “Cobra Kai” writer Michael Jonathan Smith, who will serve as showrunner.

The high-octane live-action series is based on an original take by “Deadpool” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and follows a motor-mouthed amnesiac milkman on a mission to deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction, not to mention a deranged clown in an ice cream truck, on the dangerous open road.

Sony Pictures TV, Playstation Productions and Universal Television will back the project which also has Will Arnett and Marc Forman onboard as executive producers.

The project joins multiple Playstation game adaptations on the way in the wake of current box-office champ “Uncharted”. Others include HBO’s “The Last of Us” TV series, and a currently in development “Ghost of Tsushima” film.
