After a comedy-centric teaser and action-centric trailer, HBO Max has premiered a new red-band trailer for the second season of the John Cena-led action-comedy series “Peacemaker” from DC Studios.
This one is a mix of both, along with showing some of the crazier elements of the season, including some pretty violent exchanges.
As the new run takes place after the events of “Superman,” DC Studios chief James Gunn explained on Screen Rant that his film’s rush to digital release tomorrow – 35 days after opening – is driven in part to allow people the chance to watch “Superman” at home” before the new season of “Peacemaker” begins.
The new season reportedly focuses on the world not accepting Peacemaker as a hero. He goes to a parallel dimension (one of at least 100 universes within the DCU) where he is a hero & has a better life, but doing so has dire consequences.
The new season will also see Cena’s Christopher Smith having to deal with Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. who is now running ARGUS and who is well aware Peacemaker killed his son Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman).
Also starring are the likes of Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, Freddie Strom as Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Steve Agee as John Economos, Robert Patrick as August ‘Auggie’ Smith/White Dragon, Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury, and Nhut Le as Judomaster.
David Denman, Anissa Matlock, Taylor St. Clair, Dorian Kingi, and Brandon Stanley also appear. The second season of “Peacemaker” arrives next Thursday on August 21st.
