Going into the weekend, it was looking like a potential neck-and-neck race at the domestic box-office between three very different films – “Saw X,” “The Creator” and “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie”.
Now though, it seems the CG-animated pups are leaving both serial killer Jigsaw and the impressive “Creator” VFX in the dust.
Paramount’s “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” is reportedly eyeing a $6.5 million Friday and a $22 million opening weekend haul – nearly doubling the opening of the first film back in 2021.
That’s well ahead of the others, but both are still doing commendable work. Buoyed by franchise best reviews, Lionsgate’s “Saw X” is tracking for a $17.5 million weekend haul which is slightly lower than overly enthusiastic early estimates.
Also coming in a little short is Gareth Edwards’ “The Creator” which is now tracking for a $15-16 million weekend. Sony also expands “Dumb Money” wide, but pulled in only $1 million on Friday and is expected to take only $3 million this weekend – well outside the top five.
“The Nun 2” and “A Haunting in Venice” are expected to round out the top five with $5 million and $4 million for the weekend, respectively.
