Paul Giamatti has signed on for the hour-long darkly comedic drama pilot “Hoke” for FX.
The series is based on Charles Willeford’s Hoke Moseley novels and is set in Miami in 1985.
The story follows a hard-boiled and possibly insane homicide detective as he gets caught up in a mid-life crisis and murder.
Giamatti, Scott Frank, Curtis Hanson, Carol Fenelon and Dan Carey will serve as executive producers.
FX Productions will produce the drama in-house and filming begins in Miami later this year.
