Recently, The New York Times began publishing a multi-part list of the 100 best films of the 21st century.
More than 500 influential actors, filmmakers and industry people both in Hollywood and across the globe submitted their votes for the best films released since January 1st 2000.
Voters ranged from actors like John Turturro, Julianne Moore, John Lithgow and Mikey Madison, to filmmakers like Guillermo del Toro, Pedro Almodóvar, Sofia Coppola and Benny Safdie.
It has taken time, but at last the publication has reached the end with Bong Joon Ho’s 2019 Best Picture Oscar winner “Parasite” named the top film of the 21st century.
Coming in second was “Mulholland Drive,” David Lynch’s modern noir which has topped several high-profile best 21st century film polls for the likes of The BBC, Indiewire, LA Film Critics. The Top 20 was as follows:

#5 – Moonlight
#6 – No Country for Old Men
#7 – Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
#8 – Get Out

#12 – The Zone of Interest
#13 – Children of Men
#14 – Inglourious Basterds
#15 – City of God
#16 – Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
#17 – Brokeback Mountain

#19 – Zodiac
#20 – Wolf of Wall Street
Superb titles that just missed out on the Top 20 include the likes of “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Lost in Translation,” “The Dark Knight,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “Arrival,” “Her,” “Wall-E,” “Phantom Thread,” “Portrait of a Lady on Fire,” “The Departed,” “A Separation,” and “Anatomy of a Fall”.
