Paramount has secured the film rights to Leslie Charteris’ novel series “The Saint” with plans to launch another franchise for the studio.
The story follows Simon Templar, a smart, quick-witted man who went after the scourges of the Earth – corrupt politicians, war profiteers, drug runners – to benefit his country and the greater good.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Brad Krevoy and Robert Evans are expected to produce the film – twenty years on since the release of the Phil Noyce-directed previous film adaptation starring Val Kilmer.
The best known adaptation remains the TV series which starred Roger Moore in the title role.
