Paramount+ has announced “NCIS: Sydney,” the first non-U.S. based spin-off of the American naval crime drama franchise.
Australia’s Network 10 and Paramount+ will jointly distribute the series, the fifth for the franchise overall, boasting local cast and producers.
Australian-born “NCIS: Los Angeles” creator Shane Brennan will steer the production which will feature local stories. Production will begin in Sydney later this year for a 2023 airing.
That’s not the only CBS franchise expanding as a stand-alone “SEAL Team” movie is set to be produced for the Paramount+ service. David Boreanaz, Christopher Chulack and Spencer Hudnut are backing the creative side of the new film.
