Paramount has announced the combination of Paramount+ and Showtime into a single, merged service – letting subscribers access content from both streamers within the single Paramount+ app.

Available from today, Paramount+ subscribers can upgrade their subscription to a bundle that includes the Showtime service and then watch all the content in a single user experience – allowing shows like “Yellowjackets,” “American Gigolo,” “The Chi” and “Billions” to sit alongside “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” “Halo,” “The Good Fight” and “Evil”.

This has already been happening outside the U.S. in markets like Australia, where some Showtime programming has already been streaming on Paramount+. Now though it’s happening within, and though there have been bundles of the two services available for about a year, until now it required the use of separate apps for each service.

In addition, promotional discounts are on offer for the Paramount+/Showtime bundle of up to 33% for the next month, with the combined bundle offered for a monthly fee of $7.99 with ads or $12.99 with no ads.

The discounted pricing is good for as long as customers keep their bundles. Even if you choose the ‘with ads’ option, the company will reportedly not run ads in Showtime content for bundle subscribers.

Paramount will also continue to offer Showtime separately for $10.99 per month as a standalone service and through third-party distributors.

This marks the first of the major integrations of previously separate U.S. SVOD services that are expected in the next two years or so, with a blended HBO Max and Discovery+ app on the way and a widely expected incorporation of Hulu into the Disney+ app in 2024.
