Paramount Already Planning More “G.I. Joe”

Even before the newly titled “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins” hits in October, Paramount and Hasbro are already developing a follow-up.

Henry Golding (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “The Gentlemen”) stars in “Snake Eyes” as the most popular character in the franchise about an elite anti-terrorist group known as G.I. Joe. Robert Schwentke helms the feature which completed filming long before the pandemic shutdown.

Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse, who penned Ben Wheatley’s upcoming “Rebecca” and the “Ex Machina” comic adaptation “The Great Machine” starring Oscar Isaac, are in negotiations with the studios to pen the next film which will keep the Joe universe pushing forward.

The plan is to build on Snake Eyes, making it more than just sequel – expanding the scale to take audience goers deeper into the world of Joe. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce.
