In the comics, the “X-Men” mutants Gambit and Rogue became entangled in a popular superhero love story. Don’t expect the same thing to happen in the on-screen version.
In fact, don’t expect Anna Paquin’s Rogue to show up at all in the upcoming “X-Men” spin-off feature “Gambit” starring Channing Tatum. Paquin was asked on social media if she was involved in the “Gambit” film, the answer was short and succinct.

This doesn’t preclude the possibility of Rogue showing up with another actress in the role, but if this is a part of the same X-Men universe as the main films it would seem unlikely.
