“Happy Endings” and “Sonic the Hedgehog” star Adam Pally is in talks to star as John Belushi alongside Ike Barinholtz as Dan Aykroyd and Aubrey Plaza as Belushi’s wife in a biopic about the late Belushi.
Collider broke the news, saying David Frankel (“The Devil Wears Prada”) will direct the long-gestating project from a script by Steve Conrad (“Wonder”). Broadway actor Alex Brightman was previously attached.
Belushi made the jump from “Saturday Night Live” to the big screen and broke out in films such as “National Lampoon’s Animal House” and “The Blues Brothers”. He died at the age of 33 from a drug overdose at the Chateau Marmont.
This is expected to follow him at the height of his fame and feature characters like SNL boss Lorne Michaels along with Robin Williams, Keith Richards and Rick James.
Alexandra Milchan and Scott Lambert are producing.
