Actor Rege-Jean Page has previously made it quite clear he won’t be returning to the role that made him famous – Simon, the Duke of Hastings in the first season of Netflix’s period drama “Bridgerton”.
Speaking with Variety at the premiere of “The Gray Man” this week, he says not only had he moved on but he has no objection if the streamer were to do so as well. When asked about the possibility of re-casting his character he says:
“They’re free to do as they like. Shonda and I had a wonderful conversation at the end of Season 1. We were quite happy with how we’d stuck the landing on that one. I’m still proud of how we stuck the landing on that one.”
Page has also confided that he hasn’t even yet watched the second season. The actor, who appears in “The Gray Man” and has a role in the upcoming “Dungeons and Dragons” film, remains in various polls as a potential James Bond candidate.
Netflix has made no official announcements about recasting the role, but the character’s absence was notable in the second season and thus it could well happen.
