Apple TV+ has renewed its acclaimed drama series “Pachinko” for a second season ahead of the first season finale on Friday night.
Based on the bestselling novel by Min Jin Lee, the Korean, Japanese and English-language drama begins in the early 1900s and follows a Korean immigrant family across four generations as they leave their homeland in hopes of a brighter future.
The series was created, written and executive produced by Soo Hugh who serves as showrunner. Kogonada and Justin Chon directed four episodes each of the first season.
Hugh said in a statement: “Words cannot express my joy in being able to continue telling the extraordinary story of this indomitable family. I’m grateful to the amazing team at Apple and Media Res studio for believing and supporting this show and to our passionate fans who have cheered us on. It’s an honor to be able to continue working with this amazing cast and crew.”
