Netflix has renewed its Emmy-winning gritty crime drama “Ozark” for an expanded fourth and final season.
The season will mark the final chapter in the Byrde family’s journey from suburban Chicago to a criminal enterprise in the Ozarks.
The streaming giant has ordered fourteen episodes, up from the usual ten, with the season to be split into two equal parts of seven episodes each. No word as yet when production on the new episodes will begin.
Showrunner and executive producer Chris Mundy says they’re very happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving the series more time to end the Byrdes’ saga.
The third season released earlier this year averaged 8.7 million viewers over its first ten days according to Nielsen’s SVOD ratings – a 74% jump on the second season.
Series regulars Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan and Lisa Emery are set to return for the final season.
