Disney is set to revive its 1991 cult classic “The Rocketeer” with the new live-action feature titled “The Return of the Rocketeer”.
David Oyelowo will produce the project which is being turned into a potential starring vehicle for the “Selma” and “Jack Reacher” actor.
Joe Johnston (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) directed the original film based on the Dave Stevens graphic novel about a young pilot (Billy Campbell) who stumbles onto a prototype jetpack that allows him to become a high-flying masked hero.
Ed Ricourt (“Jessica Jones,” “Now You See Me”) is penning the new film which shifts the focus to a retired Tuskegee airman who takes up the mantle of the Rocketeer.
Oyelowo’s wife Jessica Oyelowo will also produce alongside Brigham Taylor.
