ABC has made it official – the 2020 Academy Awards are set to air without a host for the second year in a row.
ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke made the announcement during her executive session at TCA, saying: “Together with the Academy, we have decided there will be no traditional host, repeating for us what worked last year. [It will have] huge entertainment values, big musical numbers, comedy, and star power.”
The 2019 show ran a half-hour shorter than its previous year and saw a 12% rise in viewers, a rare feat as awards shows on the whole have seen their audience numbers dwindle in recent years.
The 92nd Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 9th on ABC.
