Oscars Plans Three Hosts For 2022 Ceremony

After several years without a host, this year’s Academy Awards ceremony is reportedly taking the opposite approach with three one-hour acts – each emceed by a different host.

The plan gives the Academy an opportunity to hire hosts who can attract different demographics, reduces the time commitment of preparing for the show, and takes some of the relentless glare of scrutiny off those who are hosting.

The 94th Academy Awards will broadcast live from Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on March 27th and hit as awards shows in general, and in particular the Oscars, are trying to avert a ratings disaster after last year’s ceremony sank to just 10.4 million viewers.

Not helping is that due to the bleak pandemic box office, few of the best picture nominees have been widely seen with Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” having been the largest box-office generator.
