Currently out promoting Netflix’s “Frankenstein” release, actor Oscar Isaac indicates he’s presently wary about reprising his “Star Wars” role of Poe Dameron – but not due to the character himself.
Rather, in a new interview for GQ, the actor says Disney’s behaviour in regards to what happened with Jimmy Kimmel being taken off air the other month has made him wary of working with the studio again:
“I’d be open to it, although right now, I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great. But if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.”
The interview actually took place two days after ABC and Disney suspended production on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in response to Kimmel’s comments about the death of Charlie Kirk.
Isaac portrayed the X-wing fighter pilot across the entire “Star Wars” sequel trilogy from 2015-2019. The actor previously said that he wouldn’t return to the “Star Wars” universe unless he “needed another house”.
Asked about that quote, he says: “Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly d-ckish thing.”
