Original “Predator” Script Becomes A Comic

Dark Horse Comics has announced plans for a comic book adaptation of the original Jim and John Thomas-penned screenplay that became John McTiernan’s 1987 feature “Predator”.

Jeremy Barlow, Patrick Blaine, and Andy Owens are penning the comic based on the 1984 script then titled “Hunter”. The original screenplay is substantially different from the final film which saw Shane Black come in and do some serious polishing (along with co-starring).

The Thomas’ have numerous films on their resume, most notably “Predator 2,” “Executive Decision,” “Mission to Mars” and “Wild Wild West”. The comic will also include a Predator whose chameleon-esque physical appearance is closer to the original design which Jean Claude Van Damme slipped on at one point.

The five-part mini-series will be released from June 10th. Dark Horse previously did comic adaptations of the original scripts for “Alien” and “Alien 3”.
