The cast of “Oppenheimer” followed through on their promise and walked out of the film’s premiere in London after SAG-AFTRA officially called its strike earlier today.
The film was pushed an hour earlier so the stars could do red-carpet interviews and promote the movie right up until the point of the strike being called.
Actress Emily Blunt indicated to Deadline that they “will be leaving together as cast in unity with everyone… we are gonna have to”.
Subsequently, the film’s director had to apologise for their absence within the theater with the crowd cheering in solidarity with the actor’s decision.
Under the SAG-AFTRA strike, actors aren’t permitted to do any promotional work, including press junkets, film premieres, and fan events like conventions.
Meanwhile, Universal Pictures has posted a new five-minute trailer for the historical drama dubbed an ‘Opening Look’. The audio mix of the clip is odd with the music drowning out the dialogue a bit (not unheard of for a Nolan film).
“Oppenheimer” will release in cinemas everywhere on July 21st.
