“Don’t Worry Darling” helmer Olivia Wilde has signed on to direct a TV adaptation of Jennifer Egan’s 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “A Visit from the Goon Squad” and its 2022 follow-up “The Candy House” for A24.
‘Goon’ is a blend of novel and short story with thirteen interconnected tales linking back to fictional record company executive Bennie Salazar and his assistant Sasha. ‘Candy’ continues said story.
A previous attempt was made to adapt ‘Goon’ back in 2011 by HBO but it didn’t come to fruition.
Marking Wilde’s first big TV directing job, she will also executive produce along with Jennifer Fox. The series marks A24’s latest foray into TV following Netflix’s just released “Beef” and HBO’s upcoming “The Sympathizer”.
Wilde also remains set to direct an untitled Marvel-Sony “Spider-Woman” film, and a Christmas comedy at Universal.
