OLEDs Get 4K 120Hz Dolby Vision

Oled Tvs Get 4k 120hz Dolby Vision
LG

LG’s 2021 OLED range has been announced as the first TVs on the market to get a firmware upgrade that will make them capable of Dolby Vision HDR in 4K resolution and at 120Hz.

Until now even HDMI 2.1-equipped 4K displays have not been able to handle both 120Hz and Dolby Vision at the same time. At present no games support the mode, but they are expected to start coming out later this year along with games with Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

The 03.15.27 firmware currently being rolled out enables the feature on LG’s C1 and G1 2021 OLED TVs and support is on the way for other premium TVs in its 2021 lineup.

In addition, the update also adds in a new Game Dashboard feature – a settings overlay allowing you to tweak settings and switch between game modes without interrupting the action.

Additional 2020 TV models like the CX and BX are also being tested for Dolby Vision gaming in either 60Hz or 120Hz. No word presently if the 2019 C9 models, which also boast full HDMI 2.1 specifications, will also score the update. Only the 2021 models are to get the Game Dashboard feature.
