Charlize Theron has confirmed that the script is done for a sequel to Netflix’s film adaptation of Greg Rucka’s comic “The Old Guard”.
Gina Prince-Bythewood helmed the original which follows a team of immortal mercenaries on a revenge mission. Budgeted at $70 million, the project premiered on Netflix a year ago to solid reviews and was a major hit for the service – reaching over 70 million households in the first four weeks.
Shooting on the follow-up is slated to kick off in the first quarter of 2022 with Theron confirming her return along with two of her ever living cast mates – Marwan Kenzari and Luca Marinelli’s gay couple Yusuf Al-Kaysani and Nicolo di Genova.
It’s not clear if the other three immortals of the piece – Matthias Schoenaerts, KiKi Layne or Van Veronica Ngo – will be back, or Chiwetel Ejiofor’s CIA officer James Copley.
