Official Trailer: “All Quiet on the Western Front”

Netflix

Netflix has premiered the full trailer for Edward Berger’s film adaptation of German writer Erich Maria Remarque’s famed 1928 novel “All Quiet on the Western Front”.

This marks the first-ever German-language adaptation of the WW1-set work. Felix Kammerer stars as front soldier Paul Bäumer, Albrecht Schuch is his brother-in-arms Stanislaus Katczinsky, and actor Daniel Brühl plays a German diplomat negotiating Germany’s surrender in the war’s final days.

The work famously explores the extreme physical and mental stress of German soldiers during the war, and the detachment from civilian life felt by many of them upon returning home from the front. Lesley Paterson adapted the screenplay for the new version.

Anton von Lucke, Joe Weintraub, David Striesow, and Andreas Döhler co-star. The property was previously adapted into the 1930 film by helmer Lewis Milestone which became the first all-talking non-musical film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

The film arrives on Netflix worldwide next Friday, October 28th.
