“Better Call Saul” may be ending, but its Emmy-winning star Bob Odenkirk is sticking with AMC on another series with plans for a potential 2023 debut.
Odenkirk will star in and executive produce an adaptation of Richard Russo’s novel “Straight Man” for the basic cable network which has fast-tracked the project.
The project tells the midlife crisis story of William Henry Deveraux Jr. (Odenkirk), the unlikely chair of the English department at badly underfunded Railton College in the Pennsylvania rust belt.
Peter Farrelly is attached to direct whilst Aaron Zelman (“Damages”) and Paul Lieberstein (“The Office”) created the series for TriStar TV and Gran Via. Both will serve as co-showrunners.
