It appears the first official one-sheet for filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has been released.
Numerous photos began cropping up several hours ago on multiple social media accounts, showing the artwork framed on the walls of cinemas, including one at The Grove in Los Angeles.
A proper digital copy of the one-sheet subsequently appeared on a long-running Nolan news account NolanAnalyst which has a solid track record.
However, the one-sheet has not yet appeared on Universal’s own official social media accounts as of writing – meaning its authenticity is still in question.
The news account also reports that a very early teaser trailer for the movie is set to be released in cinemas only (not online) this coming week – likely attached to copies of Universal’s “Jurassic Park Rebirth”.
This all comes as the $250 million budgeted movie is still very much in production, shooting began back in February and has spanned big portions of Europe and the Mediterranean including Sicily & Italy, Greece, the UK, Ireland, Morocco, Iceland and currently Scotland with some filming also taking place on Los Angeles soundstages. Several more weeks remain of principal photography.
Also of note, the outlet is reporting that the movie could be potentially aiming for an R rating as the production has reportedly enlisted an intimacy coordinator for at least one sequence.
Added to earlier set photos indicating some of the action gets quite bloody and it seems the original work’s graphic barbarism and sensuality will remain intact, and Nolan did steer Universal’s R-rated “Oppenheimer” to a near billion-dollar haul.
Homer’s 8th century BCE story recounts the ten-year journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he travels home after the Trojan War. He and his crew encounter many perils, including massive monsters, lethal sirens, a sorceress and the vengeful god of the sea. Meanwhile, Odysseus’s wife and grown son must contend with aggressive suitors that have designs on the throne.
“The Odyssey” is set to open in cinemas on July 17th 2026.
