A Capcom producer claims the company has no current plans to remake the cult classic video game “Resident Evil: Code Veronica”
Series producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed to Noisy Pixel no concrete plans have been made to develop the game anytime in the near future. However, he doesn’t rule out the possibility saying: “[if the] opportunity comes, maybe.”
Made for Dreamcast, the 2000 release time is a canonical entry set between the second and third games. It follows protagonists Claire Redfield and her brother Chris Redfield as they fight to survive a zombie outbreak at a remote prison island in Antarctica.
The project was originally going to be a full sequel to “Resident Evil 2” until a Sony exclusivity deal rebranded as a spin-off. A remastered version dubbed “Code: Veronica X” was ported to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.
For now Capcom’s focus is on its “Resident Evil 4” remake which will release on PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S on March 24th 2023.
