Nintendo Showed Off Switch 2 Demos?

Nintendo

Nintendo has reportedly privately showed off tech demos for the next-generation Nintendo Switch successor to invited developers at Gamescom this week.

Eurogamer broke the news about this ‘Switch 2’ with one of the demos said to be an improved version of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” with higher framerate and resolution on hardware in-line with the new console’s specs.

Another source tells VGC that Epic’s “The Matrix Awakens” Unreal Engine 5 tech demo was shown as well – running Nvidia’s DLSS upscaling and with advanced ray tracing enabled.

According to their sources, the visual final result is said to be comparable to Sony‘s and Microsoft’s current-gen consoles – but that does not mean it will sport the same levels of power.

It’s expected that like the Switch, it’s a console said to be able to be used in portable mode like the Switch. However, Nintendo has not publicly discussed its next-gen console plans.

All signs in the reports point to the new hardware potentially launching late next year. The talk comes as the first Switch is seeing a decline in sales.
