A new entry in the “Star Fox” game franchise, and a remake of the legendary “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” are rumored to be on the cards for the Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
Known Nintendo tipster Natethehate, who accurately leaked the Switch 2’s reveal date last year, broke the report with sources for VGC subsequently backing it up.
Speaking via his podcast, the scooper says Nintendo’s new “Star Fox” game will be announced in April after the character’s appearance in next week’s “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”.
They add that the game will apparently launch in late 2026 and include online multiplayer. We likely won’t hear anything until the next Nintendo Direct in June at the earliest.
They add that “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” is expected out for year’s end and coming in a few months ahead of the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” film launching May 2027:
“In the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays if not the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2. This is something I was a bit hesitant about in January because I didn’t think it was something they’d do. I’m hearing an Ocarina of Time remake. I don’t have details as to what type of scope this has. Maybe we get a 1:1 remake like akin to Demon Souls or maybe a remake that is free to explore design choices.”
Before that, we’ll reportedly likely get “Splatoon Raiders,” “Rhythm Heaven: Groove” and “Fire Emblem: Fortune Weave” this summer, along with Switch 2 upgrades for “Pikmin 4” and “Xenoblade 2”. Late in the year is FromSoftware’s Switch 2 exclusive “The Duskbloods”.
No major new 3D Mario game is expected out this year, but the long-awaited follow-up to “Super Mario Odyssey” is rumoured to be targeting a 2027 release.
