Nintendo Plans More Adaptations Of Its Ip

Gaming giant Nintendo continues to expand into the entertainment business as a Japanese regulatory filing has revealed they have agreed to acquire Dynamo Pictures Inc.

Dynamo is a visual content and CG animation company known for its video game and TV animation along with motion capture projects.

Should the deal close in October as expected, Dynamo will be renamed Nintendo Pictures Co. and become a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.

Nintendo Pictures will then “focus on development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP”. This suggests a push that goes beyond Illumination Entertainment’s upcoming CG animated “Super Mario Bros.” feature due next year and could see other Nintendo properties like Zelda, Kirby, or Star Fox land screen adaptations.

No potential projects from the new company have been announced at this time.
