An animated event series based on Robert C. O’Brien’s “Rats of NIMH” book trilogy is in the works at the FOX network.
The series follows Mrs. Frisby, a mouse, who in an effort to save her family goes on a journey through an unfamiliar and underground world.
She discovers a colony of escaped super-intelligent lab rats who help her on a thrilling adventure to relocate her home before the plows and exterminators arrive.
The network has reportedly handed out a script commitment with Fox Entertainment and Orion Television developing the project. A search is now underway for a writer.
The books were previously adapted into the legendary Don Bluth-directed 1982 film “The Secret of NIMH”. This version will be more inspired by the books than that take, and follows several attempts to reboot the work into a film with the likes of Neil Burger and the Russo Brothers linked at one time.
