Ratings giant Nielsen have released their streaming viewer stats for the week of August 28th to September 3rd which has resulted in some interesting adjustments.
First off, Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” made its debut atop the chart of new release series with 1.311 billion minutes viewed across its eight episodes – despite only being available for half of the period being measured (it debuted on August 31st).
It pushed last week’s winner “Who Is Erin Carter?” to second place with 1.019 billion minutes viewed across its seven episodes. Third place went to reality series “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On”.
The second season of Amazon Prime’s “The Wheel of Time” debuted the first three episodes of its second season on September 1st and pulled in 515 million minutes to come in fourth.
One notable change is “Ahsoka” which aired its third episode in that week and was still seeing viewership trickle in from its two-episode premiere. The “Star Wars” spin-off saw its viewing cut in half in its second week with 487 million minutes viewed and dropping from second to fifth place. As the show went from a double-episode debut to a single-episode weekly release however, the drop was expected.
The rest of the Top 10 were “Only Murders in the Building,” “Ragnarok,” “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Live to 100” and “Special Ops: Lioness”.
On the overall chart, which includes acquired series, “Suits” came in first with 2.45 billion minutes viewed – its 11th consecutive week atop the chart. It now ties “Ozark” with the record for the most No. 1 overall finishes ever on the overall Nielsen chart.
It was followed by “One Piece” in second, “Who is Erin Carter?” in third, and Australian animated hit “Bluey” in fourth with 1.012 billion minutes viewed.
