Nichols Set For Southern Horror “King Snake”

Jeff Nichols Plans New Sci Fi Movie
Warner Bros. Pictures

Michael Shannon (“Bullet Train”), Drew Starkey (“Queer”) and Margaret Qualley (“The Substance”) are set to star in the next film from “The Bikeriders,” “Take Shelter” and “Loving” director Jeff Nichols.

Titled “King Snake,” the story follows a young couple (Qualley and Starkey) who inherit a farm in rural Arkansas and must conquer the demons, both physical and metaphysical, that haunt its legacy.

Forces of good and evil collide in “a terrifying film where real-world challenges crash headlong into otherworldly creatures and myths.” The project is described as a Southern Gothic horror tale.

FilmNation Entertainment is financing the film and will launch sales out of the American Film Market. FilmNation CEO Glen Basner says:

“Jeff is a singular filmmaker and King Snake will bewitch and enthrall audiences around the world with a startling new vision of the supernatural forces that hover just beyond our everyday perceptions.”

Nichols, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Sarah Green will produce. Nicholas has spent a good amount of time in recent years trying to secure financing for an adaptation of the Cormac McCarthy companion novels “The Passenger”/”Stella Maris” as well as a remake of “Alien Nation”.
