The first artwork is out for the sequel to 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” at Sony Pictures is out, courtesy of a posting from the official “Ghostbusters” account.

The project only began filming back in March under the working title of “Firehouse”. Gil Kenan (“Monster House,” the “Poltergeist” remake) helms the new entry – taking over from Jason Reitman, who remains onboard as a producer and co-writer with Kenan and Jason Blumenfeld.

Ernie Hudson will be reprising his role of Winston Zeddemore, with Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, and Carrie Coon also returning after making their debuts in ‘Afterlife’.

The project is dubbed “the next chapter of the Spengler family saga” and is expected to return to New York City and the iconic firehouse of the original film. Grace released a video this morning of herself in costume dancing around the Firehouse set.

The movie also follows on from an ‘Afterlife’ post-credits scene with Winston returning to the building whilst we briefly glimpse a flashing red light on the ghost containment tank in the basement.

The revival film grossed over $200 million worldwide from a $75 million budget. The new film has already been slated for a December 20th release.
