Next “Exorcist,” “Paranormal Activity” Set Dates

Universal Pictures

Mike Flanagan’s new “The Exorcist” film, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe (“Hamnet”), has locked down a March 12th 2027 release date.

“Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game” director Flanagan, the creator of acclaimed Netflix series like “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Midnight Mass,” wrote the script and is directing and producing the new feature.

Following the failure of “The Exorcist: Believer” in 2023, which opened to bad reviews and soft box-office, Universal opted to give Flanagan essentially carte blanche to a story set in the ‘Exorcist universe’ but not a reboot, remake or sequel.

Blumhouse-Atomic Monster are producing the “radical new take” on the property, the fourth Flanagan-Blumhouse team-up following “Oculus,” “Hush” and “Ouija: Origin of Evil”.

Speaking of Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, their planned new sequel in the found-footage “Paranormal Activity” franchise has also locked down a May 21st 2027 release date.

Currently without a title, it marks the eighth overall film in a series that has grossed over $900 million at the worldwide box office. Ian Tuason is directing the project with no specific details available.
