New “Zelda,” “Final Fantasy XVI” Game Trailers

Nintendo

It has been a busy time for game trailers with two high-profile ones dropping today.

First, Nintendo showed off a bunch of its open-world title “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”. This ‘Breath of the Wild’ follow-up got its final pre-launch trailer today ahead of the game’s release on Switch on May 12th.

That trailer shows off over gameplay footage with a good look at Link’s new abilities in detail. The game costs $69.99, the first time Nintendo has charged more than $59.99 for a standard edition of a digital Switch title.

Nintendo is also releasing a special edition Switch OLED console themed around the game on April 28th.

Next, Sony PlayStation held its April 2023 State of Play with Square Enix showing off around 25 minutes of gameplay from its highly anticipated “Final Fantasy XVI” title which will be a PS5 exclusive.

Producer Naoki Yoshida says the new entry doesn’t require any experience with the series and ran through the game’s mechanics – calling it the first true action RPG in the mainline entries.

The gameplay shown off has already resulted in comparisons to “Devil May Cry”. The game arrives on June 22nd.
