A couple of notable trailers have arrived today.
First up, celebrated filmmaker Kelly Reichardt’s “The Mastermind” starring Josh O’Connor has landed a trailer. The film hits cinemas in October via MUBI.
Set in 1970s Massachusetts, the film follows J.B. (O’Connor), a burnout with fraying relationships who hatches a clumsy plan to swipe four abstract paintings from a gallery.
Next, Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for “Candyman” director Nia DaCosta’s “Hedda” starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss. The film hits the streamer on October 29th.
A modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play, Thompson’s Hedda finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires erupt.
Finally, the full trailer is out for Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell in Kogonada’s new film “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” opening in cinemas on September 19th.
The actors play single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprising twist of fate, find themselves on an adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts – illuminating how they got to where they are in the present.
