IFC Films has premiered the U.S. teaser trailer for “Robocop” and “Basic Instinct” helmer Paul Verhoeven’s new erotic lesbian nun period thriller and dark comedy “Benedetta”.
Verhoeven’s first directorial effort since 2016’s Oscar-nominated “Elle,” the story follows the story of a young novitiate in 17th century Tuscany who begins an affair with another nun. Sexuality, religion, and human ambition soon get tangled up.
Virginie Efira Daphne Patakia, Lambert Wilson, Olivier Rabourdin, Clotilde Courau, Herve Pierre, and Charlotte Rampling star in the movie which drew rave reviews out of Cannes for being pure Verhoeven and wickedly entertaining.
The film will launch in U.S. cinemas on December 3rd.
