Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment have premiered a new trailer for “Minions: The Rise of Gru” which is finally coming two years after it was originally slated to open until the pandemic impacted production and release.
Brian Lynch pens the film which serves as a continuation of the 2015 feature which earned $1.16 billion globally.
The story is set in the 1970s and focuses on the Minions (Pierre Coffin) during their first encounter with a 12-year-old Felonious Gru (Steve Carell) who lives in the suburbs and dreams of becoming the world’s greatest supervillain.
The impressive voice cast includes Steve Carell, Pierre Coffin, Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews and Alan Arkin.
“Minions: The Rise of Gru” is coming to cinemas on July 1st.
