Netflix has unleashed the new trailer for filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s new take on “Frankenstein” which hit the Fall film festival circuit a month ago to quite good reviews.
The film is set in Eastern Europe in the 19th Century. A brilliant but egotistical scientist brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
Oscar Isaac takes on the role of Victor Frankenstein alongside Jacob Elordi as the Creature, Mia Goth as Victor’s fiance Elizabeth Lavenza, Felix Kammerer as Victor’s younger brother, Lars Mikkelsen as Captain Anderson, Christoph Waltz as Victor’s benefactor Henrich Harlander, and Charles Dance as Victor’s stern father Leopold Frankenstein.
Lauren Collins, David Bradley, Ralph Ineson, Sofia Galasso and Burn Gorman co-star. Alexandre Desplat is doing the score for the film which is budgeted at $120 million.
This has been a passion project of del Toro’s for many years and finally got to shoot the film in Toronto throughout a good chunk of last year.
The film scheduled to be released in select theaters on October 17th before releasing on Netflix on November 7th.
