Sony Pictures has announced the “return of the original ‘Karate Kid’ franchise” to the big screen.
Sony has dated a new “Karate Kid” film for June 7th 2024 and will mark the franchise’s first film since the Jaden Smith-led 2010 reboot.
However the wording from the studio clearly points out this is tied to the original Ralph Macchio-led trilogy.
How this might link with “Cobra Kai,” Netflix’s sequel series starring many of the original cast members reprising their characters from the original trilogy, isn’t clear.
No further details are forthcoming at this time. The project was revealed during a schedule shake-up by the studio this afternoon.
