New “The Backrooms” Movie Set Photo

A24

A24 has shared the first photo from the set “The Backrooms,” the online-inspired horror film set up at Chernin Entertainment, James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps.

Kane Parsons, the 19-year-old filmmaker who created the original “The Backrooms (Found Footage)” viral video, directs the projects – making him the youngest director in A24 history. Parsons will direct from a script by Roberto Patino.

Chiwetel Ejiofor (“The Life of Chuck,” “Venom: The Last Dance”) and Renate Reinsve (“The Worst Person in the World,” “A Different Man”) will lead the cast

The original urban legend and ‘creepypasta’ short film is set in the 1990s and sees a young filmmaker fall into another dimension where he wanders through an unsettlingly yellow, empty and labyrinthine office space – one that may be home to otherworldly beings.

The anthological viral YouTube horror universe has amassed over 190 million views to date. Wan, Levy, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine, Chris Ferguson, and Michael Clear are producing this feature film take.
