New “Supergirl” Screened On Warner Bros. Lot

Warner Bros. Pictures

With “Peacemaker” wrapping up next week and “Superman” now out on SVOD, the DC Universe is set to go quiet until next Summer when “Supergirl” hit cinemas in June.

Now, THR is reporting today that work on the Craig Gillespie-directed film is progressing fast – so much so that a rough cut has been screened internally.

The trade says: “Supergirl had a quiet screening on the Burbank lot with a select group of executives and a few members of James Gunn’s trusted DC stable.”

In the wake of this, CBM indicates that several “reliable scoopers” have claimed to have heard great things about the movie, somehow.

Ana Nogueira penned the film and recently discussed how her version is a rougher, grittier and funnier take than we’re used to, and with good reason: “She watched Krypton completely be destroyed. I was always like, ‘I can’t get my head around the version of the character that is so sunny.'”

Milly Alcock plays the role after briefly appearing in the closing moments of “Superman”. In the film she travels across the galaxy to celebrate her 21st birthday with Krypto the Superdog. Along the way, she meets a young woman named Ruthye and winds up on a murderous quest for revenge.

Also starring are Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, Jason Momoa as Lobo, Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, and both David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents Zor-El and Alura.

“Supergirl” will fly into cinemas on June 26th 2026.
