A new series set within the same world as USA Network’s legal drama “Suits” is reportedly in very early development.
Original “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh is behind the project which is said to be not a reboot, revival, prequel, sequel or spin-off. Instead, it will boast entirely new characters in a new setting with a comparison drawn to the “CSI” and “NCIS” franchises.
That said, it sounds like it would leave the door open for appearances from former “Suits” cast members returning as their characters. No network is attached to the project at this time.
“Suits” starred Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle and Sarah Rafferty. It ran for nine seasons in total from 2011-2019 on the USA Network and also had a short-lived spin-off in “Pearson”.
The last of USA’s Blue Sky era of television (alongside “Burn Notice,” “White Collar,” “Royal Pains,” etc.), the series was successful in its initial run. However, the show found new life this year when the first eight seasons became available on Netflix in addition to already being available on Peacock.
Since then it has dominated the streaming ratings charts over the summer and recently broke a record for the most No. 1 appearances on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart ever.
