The first official photo has been released by Vanity Fair of Australian actor Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria,” “Saltburn,” “Priscilla”) as Frankenstein’s monster in acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” feature.
The R-rated feature is forgoing the horror focus of past adaptations for something more emotional with a story about fathers and sons.
The film is set in Eastern Europe in the 19th Century and tells the story of Dr. Pretorious (Christoph Waltz), who needs to track down a monster (Elordi) – believed to have died in a fire 40 years before – in order to continue the experiments of its creator – Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Isaac).
Frankenstein was a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brought the creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
Mia Goth plays Victor’s fiancée Elizabeth Lavenza, while Lars Mikkelsen, Ralph Ineson, David Bradley, Felix Kammerer and Charles Dance also star. The film will premiere this September at Venice and Toronto before releasing on Netflix in November.
Further photos and details about the film are up at Vanity Fair.
