George A. Romero’s iconic 1968 feature “Night of the Living Dead” is being resurrected with plans for a future franchise.
Village Roadshow Pictures is teaming with Chris Romero, the late George A. Romero’s Sanibel Films, Origin Story, Vertigo and Westbrook Studios for the project which will be pitched at the American Film Market.
Nikyatu Jusu, who won this year’s Sundance Grand Jury Prize for “Nanny,” has been set to direct while LaToya Morgan (“The Walking Dead”) will pen the project with details under wraps.
However from the quotes in the press release, it doesn’t appear to be just another sequel but rather a film that will expand on the premise of the original and revisit the world Romero created.
